Woods Architecture & Project Management have worked closely with JD Sports PLC for the past 5 years as they increase their presence in the Irish market. We have acted as Consultant Architect providing Planning and Assigned Certifier Services on a number of new stand-alone retail units along with the redesign and refurbishment of existing retail units within regional shopping centres.

Jervis Shopping Centre, Dublin.
JD Sports opened their flagship store in the Jervis Shopping Center in December 2018, comprising 3,000 sq m of retail space. Woods Architecture & Project Management provided assigned certification & inspection services throughout the construction stage along with securing planning permission for the shopfront alteration works. Woods Architecture & Project Management liaised closely with Dublin City Council Building Control Department to ensure the works were validated as complete and could open for trade prior to the busy Christmas period.

Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin.
Located on the second floor of Dundrum Town Center, JD Dundrum involved the strip out and complete fit-out of the existing unit including the reduction in back-of-house storage space to allow for a larger area of retail. The works were completed to a tight deadline of 8 weeks to allow the store to open for trade in advance of the Euro 2016 Championship.

Waterford
Two existing shop units were amalgamated to provide a new store within a regional shopping centre in Waterford, Ireland. The existing units were fully stripped out and redesigned to provide a large open plan retail area at ground floor with back-of-house and storage facilities to the first floor.

Pavilions Shopping Centre, Swords, Co. Dublin.
Located in a large shopping centre in North Dublin, JD Sports doubled its retail floor area by relocating to this unit from a smaller store within the Pavilions Shopping Centre. Woods Architecture & Project Management provided full Assigned Certifier & Consultant Architect services for the 10-week fit-out programme.

Grafton Street, Dublin.
Located on Dublin’s premier retail street, the existing shopfront to the JD Sports store was in poor repair and required rebranding. Woods Architecture & Project Management secured planning permission for the works following a number of unsuccessful applications by other consultants. Dark stone cladding replaced the existing pressed metal white cladding. New signage, internal fascia & reveal cladding complete the facade which gives the fresh corporate look that our client desired.
